It's time to unplug, slip into your pjs, light a couple candles, pull out your fave book, and get ready for a little face mask detox treatment 🙏.

Our skin goes through a lot every day (free radical damage! 😣) and by using activated charcoal and clay we can leverage some huge toxin-pulling power to detox and purify our skin. Read on for all the benefits of this mask.

TOOLS & INGREDIENTS

* Make sure not to mix or store your clay with or in anything metal, as it will react and reduce the effectiveness of the clay.

INSTRUCTIONS:

WATER & ESSENTIAL OIL

To a small bowl, add 1 Tsp water and 1 drop essential oil of your choice (I used lavender!).

BENTONITE CLAY

While mixing, slowly add ½ Tsp of the clay and let it sit for about 30 seconds to absorb into the liquid.

Clays are a potent & mineral-rich way to cleanse and detoxify the skin. Due to their negative charge, they’re said to draw out toxins, chemicals, heavy metals, and impurities. Here we’re using one of the more popular ones, bentonite clay, which comes from volcanic ash sediment.

ACTIVATED CHARCOAL

Add ½ Tsp of activated charcoal (AC).

AC is also well-known as a detoxifier that absorbs toxins, chemicals, and poisons. It has quite a long history of medicinal use and is even used in the hospital in large doses for poison victims! You might also find it in your water filtration system to pull toxins from your water.

RAW HONEY

Lastly, add ¼ Tsp raw honey.

Both the clay & AC can be drying so honey will add a bit of moisture to this mask. Honey boosts the detox power even more because it’s antimicrobial!

STIR!

Stir it all up until there are no more chunks. It might take a minute or two to smooth out and reach a good consistency.

Apply

With either your fingers or (if you really wanna feel like you’re in a spa!) a brush, apply the mask to your face. If you naturally have dry skin I’d recommend only applying to your oily & large pore zones so the mask doesn’t dry it out even more.

Now you can get that cozy blanket & book out and allow the mask to dry. This will take around 8 minutes. Once it’s done its work on your skin, you can wash it off with warm water and soap. If needed, use a wash cloth. But be careful because the charcoal might stain!

Now that your skin has been detoxed and cleaned make sure to moisturize!
