Carrier oils are truly a magical force - a must-have in beauty & skincare. I use them every day! Most of us know the joke about coconut oil healing just about anything. Well, it's true that coconut oil can be used for tons of different things, but what most people don't know is that all the other oils are just as powerful. And some of them will do an exponentially better job for you than coconut oil. Keeping your skincare natural is not only cheaper & healthier, but more effective too!
I know a lot of us try to stay away from oil - we don't want oily skin which could end up in breaking out. But hear me out! Applying oil to your open pores actually attracts the oils in your sebum and removes the excess, balancing your skin's oil production. So whether you have oily or dry skin - carrier oils can work wonders for you. Oil has actually helped me get rid of my acne.
WHAT ARE CARRIER OILS?
Carrier oils are food oils - like almond / grapeseed / coconut / jojoba - used in skincare that act as the foundation and as a base to "carry" ingredients into the skin or dilute stronger ingredients that can sometimes be too intense to apply directly. They can also be used on their own as they store a ton of nutritious power for your skin, hair, & body! Each has it's own healing benefits.
Here are some of the exciting things I've been able to do and you can too with carrier oils!
- Grow hair (fill out your eyebrows or lengthen your lashes!)
- Heal scars
- Tighten wrinkly skin & baggy under-eyes
- Heal acne
- Condition & hydrate frizzy hair
- Hydrate nails & skin for a glowing complexion
- Remove makeup & cleanse skin
- Clean your makeup brushes
- Balance skin's oil production (no more oily / dry skin!)
- Moisturize lips
Depending on your skin type - dry / oily / acne-prone / sensitive - certain oils will either work awesome for you or not-so-great. But with finding the right carrier oil for your skin type & intentions, you have so much possibility!
